The 15-minute weekly trading review (a checklist that fits on one screen)
A weekly review routine that takes 15 minutes: five numbers, three questions, one rule change. Works for day traders, swing traders and sports bettors.
A weekly review that takes two hours happens twice and then never. One that takes fifteen minutes happens every Sunday, and it is the only feedback loop most retail traders will ever have. Here is the version that fits on one screen.
Minute 0–3: import the week
Export the week from your broker or sportsbook, add Setup / Planned / Emotion to each line (template: free trading journal CSV), import. If you journal at entry time during the week, this step is zero minutes.
Minute 3–8: five numbers, last 30 days
- Expectancy per trade — is it positive, and did it move versus last week? Formula: how to calculate expectancy.
- Profit factor — above 1.3 or not.
- Planned vs unplanned expectancy — the gap is your discipline leak, in dollars.
- Tilt entries — how many entries within 90 minutes of two losses, and their average result. Definition: tilt in your own data.
- Worst hour or worst setup — the one row of the by-hour / by-setup table that is clearly negative.
Write the five on one line with the date. That line, week after week, is your real equity curve.
Minute 8–13: three questions
- Which leak cost the most this week? Not the biggest losing trade — the biggest *pattern*. One tilt session usually beats one bad trade.
- Did I break a rule, and what did it cost? A rule without a price is a suggestion. Attach the number.
- What would I not have done if I had followed the plan? List the entries. Sum their PnL. That is the value of the plan this week, positive or negative.
Minute 13–15: one change
One. Not three. Either a rule (stop after 2 losses; no entries after 15:30; max size 1.5× median) or a removal (drop the setup that has been negative for 60 days). Write it down with the number that justifies it, and check next Sunday whether it held.
What not to do in the review
Do not re-live individual trades. Do not adjust the strategy because of one week's PnL — 40 trades is noise. Do not add a rule you cannot check mechanically from the log; "trade with more patience" is not a rule, "no entry in the first 5 minutes after the open" is.
Doing it in Sharpen
Sharpen turns the review into a page: the five numbers, the leaks ranked by cost, rule breaches priced, and the by-setup / by-hour tables — recomputed on every import. On Pro, the weekly review also arrives as a DM on Monday morning, so the loop closes even on the weeks you skip the app.
